Well hello there I'm Rosa! :) I come from a farmland called Frederick, Maryland. Which is about an hour and thirty minutes away thanks to rush hour. I'm originally from Silver Spring, Maryland. I'm Latina and very proud! I'm an Elementary Education major, so I love working with children. I hope to end up being a third grade teacher, just not sure where exactly.
Now lets talk about this whole writing business. I'll be honest writing is not my favorite thing in the world. I'd rather do math problems and I don't like those either! I guess its just the technical stuff about writing that I don't like, all the "rules" you have to follow. I do though agree with the opinion that it is a great form of expression. I'm just not an expert at it, it's become more tortuous than anything. This semester I just hope I can make it through all the writing and learn something new. Overall just get better at it and have a positive experience with writing.
Hey Rosa!I admire your cultural pride.I also totally agree with you on how difficult the technical aspect of writing can be.I'm no expert in math or writing either:)
ReplyDeleteRosa! I really like how you changed the font and the colors to your blog.. once figure out how exactly to use blogger I'll probably do the same! Anyway, I think it's great that you know just what you want to do after school and I wish you the best of luck with it.I definitely give you a lot of credit because I could never be a third grade teacher. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE kids, but I don't know if i could handle them day after day haha. I also totally agree with you when you said there's too many "rules" to writing. I feel like it would be so much easier to be a better writer if you could just scribble down whatever without worrying about grammar and stuff. See you in class!
ReplyDeleteYou've got the right attitude, Rosa! Come at it open minded, and you'll be surprised at how much you learn and grow. I'm also a proud Latina, and I appreciate your cultural pride. We'll find ways of making writing less "technical," and replace those "rules" with guidelines on methods that have worked for others in the past... but as I mentioned in class, there is no "right" way. You've got choices when you express yourself, and together we'll explore what those are. Looking forward to reading more!
ReplyDeleteHey Rosa. I love your layout and font change. Why are you so specifically interested in teaching third grade? I think that those boring rules to writing can be bent with more practice, giving each author their own style. Good luck!
